History
Proteomica is an IIT Bombay spin-off company, incubated at the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), located in the RBTIC Building on the IIT Bombay campus. The company aims to revolutionize evidence-based wellness and personalized healthcare through next-generation proteomics and multi-omics solutions. Proteomica was inaugurated on February 18, 2024, by renowned proteomics scientist Professor Matthias Mann and Professor Sachin Patwardhan, Dean of Research and Development at IIT Bombay. The launch event was attended by prominent figures in the field of proteomics, who extended their support and blessings to this pioneering academic-based proteomics company, marking it as the first of its kind in India.

Meet The Founder

Dr. Sanjeeva Srivastava
Founder and Director
Professor Sanjeeva Srivastava earned his Ph.D. from the University of Alberta, Canada, in 2006, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard Institute of Proteomics, Harvard Medical School, USA, from 2007 to 2009. He is also a visiting faculty member at UCSF, USA, and is a highly respected scholar in proteomics, with numerous publications, awards, and patents. Since 2009, he has been a Professor in the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering at IIT Mumbai. His expertise spans proteomics principles and techniques, biotechnology topics, cellular and molecular biology, cancer, and infectious diseases. He oversees a comprehensive mass spectrometry laboratory and engages in global collaborative projects. He is an active member of HUPO, the Proteomics Society of India (PSI), and various other scientific organizations. Additionally, he co-founded Proteomica International Private Limited with his student, Dr. Arghya Banerjee.

Dr. Arghya Banerjee
Founder and Director
Dr. Arghya Banerjee is the Founder and Director of Proteomica International Private Limited, based at the Society for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (SINE) at IIT Bombay. He completed his Ph.D. at IIT Bombay, receiving the prestigious "Dr. Gargi Vishnoi Memorial Prize for Best PhD Thesis 2023" in the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering (BSBE). Due to his academic excellence, he was promoted to Internal Post-Doctoral Researcher for 2022-2023 in BSBE at IIT Bombay. Dr. Banerjee is a highly motivated researcher with expertise in proteomics, metabolomics, analytical techniques, clinical research, PK-PD studies, and data analysis tools, complemented by industrial experience. He excels in lab management and has demonstrated leadership skills through the successful publication of his interns' work. Additionally, he has experience establishing collaborations with clinicians for various clinical research activities and is particularly interested in their clinical translation.
